Today marked the first time Mike Jenkins practiced with the Cowboys this year after his offseason shoulder surgery. He had been cleared to start practicing on Saturday, but had missed yesterday's practice with a migraine, according to Jason Garrett. In his press conference today, Garrett said that Jenkins has "had some history with that in the past".
Despite rumblings around Valley Ranch that Jenkins could possible see some action against the Giants on Wednesday, that appears to be highly unlikely at this point. You do not get into football shape, especially after extensive surgery, with one or two practices.
Both Jason Witten and Jay Ratliff remain game-time decisions for Wednesday's game, and neither practiced today. Neither did rookie Matt Johnson, who continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Witten had been back on the practice field in full pads on Saturday, and later said that he has yet to be cleared for the Giants game. Witten will have a scan of his spleen on Tuesday, and that will likely determine his status for Wednesday's in New Jersey.
Some more positive news comes from DeMarcus Ware, Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Phil Costa, who all went through a full practice today. All had been battling various ailments that had kept them out for various lengths of time. All four look to be ready to start on Wednesday.
