Trying to decide on those last minute Fantasy lineup decisions? Well we're here to help with some last minute fantasy news that could assist you in creating that perfect blend on Week 1 of the NFL season.
Of course, you shouldn't have any questions about the studs in your lineups. Save for the "risky" injury/holdout guys, no one you picked in your top 5 rounds should really be a question mark about starting them in the first two weeks of the season. If they are, you need to revisit your draft strategies.
After we're done with the fantasy talk, don't forget to take the jump and check out my predictions for those of you into the financial aspects of fandom.
FANTASY ISLAND
I'm going through some of my favorite last-minute updaters and giving my spins on some of the players they mention. Hat tip to Rotoworld's Evan Silva.
Austin Collie is a game-time call. I don't know why you didn't let someone else draft him, but if he's yours then you have to plan to go without him. You have a better option, right?
Justin Blackmon is good to go after spraining his ankle earlier in the week. Minnesota is not good in pass coverage. Blackmon is, by far, the best threat. If you were smart enough to snap him up- this is a great 3WR or Flex option today.
Adrian Peterson is starting, but expected to split carries. If you spent the pick, it wasn't in the first two rounds (right smart pickers?) so you can afford to sit him this week. I hope you handcuffed with Toby Gerhart. But even so Jax has a nice run defense so I wouldn't be too keen to play either if you're deep. If your not, you really don't have a choice now do you?
Stevie Johnson became a huge red flag when the groin injury from last season flared up. This is the classic"personal opinion" game. Somehow, Johnson owns Darrell Revis, but on a bad groin? If you have a decent 6-8 target player on your roster, you might want to play it safe here.
Arian Foster is a go. If you have Ben Tate (which you have to) I actually think this might be the game where you start both. Even if Foster is perfectly fine, it's very possible Houston jumps all over the Dolphins, in which case they could try to save Foster and give Tate plenty of carries.
Marshawn Lynch claims his back is better, but again... will he get a full workload? I avoided him in drafts because I just never trusted him from his Buffalo days. Turbin was a good handcuff but being that this is a late game, your options to replace Lynch at the last minute are limited. Arizona's not that good against the run, so I'd probably lean towards keeping Lynch in the lineup and taking the gamble.
Beanie Wells has a hamstring injury. Surprise! Start rookie Ryan Williams if you have both on your team.
Jonathan Stewart tweeted that he is out today. That means start DeAngelo Williams if you have him. Mike Tolbert will get some action as well; I'm just a bit wary considering Cam Newton is their goal-line back.
RESOURCES - Here are some free resources that you can lean on during the season
Rotoworld.com - They do a great job of keeping you up to date on injuries at every position; including cornerbacks, offensive and defensive lines. Things that other sites often overlook for fantasy projections.
Jamie Eisenberg - CBS - He's pretty much my favorite Start'Em/Sit'Em read for the last few seasons.
Here's a look at SB Nation's Matt Ufford's advice for Week One.
OMG, It's KD's ATS, O/U, M/L PREDICTIONS!
Featured Five
Washington @ New Orleans (-8.5) | Over/Under: 50.5
Jimmy Graham vs Washington's backup safeties all day long? After this past offseason for the Saints? After a Hurricane? Sign me up.
New England (-4.5) @ Tennessee | Over/Under 47.5
I think that out of all of the 2011 QBs outside of Cam Newton, Jake Locker will emerge as the best and it starts today. Look for Hernandez to outshine Gronk, but Tennessee keeps it close and might pull out the W.
San Francisco @ Green Bay (-5.5) | Over/Under 46.5
I really like the moves that San Francisco made in the offseason. Yes, the QB matchup is one sided, but maybe the defensive comparison is just as slanted in the other direction.
Cincinnati @ Baltimore (-7) | Over/Under 41.5
I still like Baltimore this year despite the loss of Suggs and the aging... but an entire 7 points? I know Cincy didn't really earn a playoff spot based on playing quality teams... AJ Green vs Ladarius Webb will be a treat.
San Diego @ Oakland (-1.5) | Over/Under 46.5
Oakland is my pick to win the AFC West behind the first healthy Darren McFadden season. I think San Diego's window is closed. Sorry Norv.
