Reports have come out of Dallas that Cowboys NT Jay Ratliff has been arrested for DUI after he crashed his 2011 Ford F-150 pickup into an eighteen wheeler. The wreck occurred in Grapevine, a suburb of Dallas.
Police arrived at the 2800 block of East State Highway 114 at 12:36 a.m. to investigate a crash. Police, according to (police officer Sam) Shemwell, upon an investigation of the crash, arrested Ratliff on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Ratliff was bonded out of a Grapevine jail on Tuesday morning.

The accident is even more disturbing than normal in light of the recent tragedy that took the life of Dallas practice squad player Jerry Brown Jr. He was killed in a car driven by Josh Brent, a player who played the same position as Ratliff and who has been described as being close to him.
Ratliff was named All-Pro in 2009 and has been to three additional Pro Bowls. However, injuries have limited his contributions to the team in the past couple of seasons. He only played in six games in 2012. Any consideration of his future with the Cowboys will now have to take this latest mistake into consideration. It certainly has to bring his judgement into question.
