Cowboys Injury Report: Selvie Back, Austin Rests

The Cowboys were able to get a key player back on Thursday but decided to rest another starter in preparation for the Eagles game.

Wesley Hitt

Good news from Valley Ranch as George Selvie returned to practice today. It seems weird writing that sentence, at one point Selvie was a street free agent who nobody thought much about when he signed. Now, he's hugely important to the Cowboys defensive line, having been a serviceable replacement for Anthony Spencer. With the injuries that come every week to the defensive line, it feels now like Selvie is some kind of grizzled veteran. That's life with the Cowboys in 2013 along the defensive line. Defensive end and special teamer Edgar Jones is still out.

Miles Austin missed practice today but that was more the Cowboys resting him and his hamstring than a setback. Dallas is trying to get him as healthy as possible to play the Eagles. DeMarcus Ware and running backs DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar are still out. It's a shame for Dunbar, he would have had a real opportunity to shine in Murray's absence this week, but perhaps this is the week Joseph Randle starts showing his potential. Also missing was linebacker DeVotne Holloman.
