Week Six: College Football Open Game Thread

Things are getting pretty serious in College Football as conference games start to dominate the schedule.

Rob Carr

I guess this is it!

I've made no apologies for my affection for the Maryland collegiate teams and my hope that they exit the ACC with a great run. Today, the nation gets to cast their eyes on the Terrapins as they are put to the truest test yet, facing off against Top Ten powerhouse Florida State, in Tallahassee.

The Terps are a surprising 4-0, and after seeing a team they trounced, West Virginia, stun then No. 11 Oklahoma State, the voters finally gave them some credit and they snuck into the Top 25. Can they stay there? They'll have to stop redshirt freshman Jameis Winston, one of the best quarterback prospects to hit the scene in a while.

The rumble kicks off at high noon (12pm ET). For detailed coverage of each team, you can head over to their SB Naiton blogs, Testudo Times and Tomahawk Nation.

But that's not the only scintillating matchup on the agenda for today.

The nighttime has two great matchups between Top 25 teams as well.

No. 4 Ohio State travels to No. 16 Northwestern at 8pm, while No. 15 Washington travels down the Pacific Coast to take on No. 5 Stanford at 10:30. Great conference clashes. Along the way there are a myriad of other games for you to check out.

Want to watch elite players? Here's a look at the pre-season candidates for the Nagurski and Outland Trophies. Compare that against the complete television schedule provided by 506Sports.

Enjoy your day of collegiate action, right here. What games are you watching? Who are you rooting for?
