The Cowboys Are 5-2 over their last seven games
That's a headline I just made up because I would like to read about this somewhere, but I can't find anything on this. Also, there aren't really that many Cowboys headlines on this Sunday morning, which makes it hard to come up with an 'All Killer, No Filler' post.
December to remember? Dallas Cowboys optimistic about reversing end-of-year history - Rainer Sabin, DMN
Sabin writes that these days, the Cowboys are a confident bunch, are reinvigorated after two consecutive victories, and 'making sure December is a month to remember should be at the top of the to-do list.'
Beat Writers Report: Will Wilcox regain his starting role? - Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas
Watkins offers five thoughts in his weekly column, one of which is about the second safety behind Barry Church.
The Cowboys have maintained Heath's starting role, giving Wilcox defensive snaps off the bench. Wilcox is a better player yet there is a comfort level in using Heath right now as the starter. With some solid quarterbacks scheduled to face Dallas -- Jay Cutler and Aaron Rodgers in particular -- it might be time to place Wilcox in a starting role again because he's an improvement over Heath in pass coverage.
Top 10 dead money deals - National Football Post
The NFP takes an inside look at some of the most costly financial mistakes made in the NFL over the last few seasons. Much to the chagrin of many Cowboys observers, the top ten list does not contain a single Cowboys contract.
2014 NFL Draft top 100 - SBNation.com
SB Nation's Dan Kadar releases his list of top 100 draft prospects. Bad news for Cowboys fans who've had an eye on DT Ra'Shede Hageman: The "best defensive tackle in the nation" is already ranked No. 9 on the list.
Washington's Brandon Meriweather: 'You never know' what Victor Cruz will gripe about - NJ.com
Cruz's complaints about the Dallas' secondary are summarily dismissed by Washington's defense.
"Last week he said he was being held," Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather told NJ.com. "This week, it may be that we hit him too hard. You never know what it's going to be. It's always something different."
Giants’ Decline Stands at 12 Months, 16 Games and Counting - NYTimes.com
The Times observes that the 4-7 Giants' decline isn't just a product of this season, but something that started last and has seen the Giants compile a 6-10 record over the last 16 games.
Will pride still matter for battered Giants? - New York Daily News
The Daily News doesn't think so, but still picks the Giants over the Redskins. Because the Redskins "are just awful and they are in more dire straits than the Giants."
Shanahan’s on the ropes in Washington - The Buffalo News
Mark Gaughan points out that Mike Shanahan is 24-35 through almost four full seasons, and may not get a fifth in Washington, considering that after the game today, they host the Chiefs, travel to Atlanta, host the Cowboys and close the season in New York.
He’s one of the highest paid coaches in the league, with a salary of about $7 million a year. He’s entering the final year of his contract. NFL coaches usually are not allowed to become lame ducks. They’re often either fired or given a contract extension before the final year of their deal.
Redskins officials: RGIII feared job loss to Kirk Cousins - NFL.com
Albert Breer writes that Redskins coaches apparently noticed an insecurity with Griffin this season and thought that the fear of losing his job to Kirk Cousins might have been part of his motivation to quickly return from ACL surgery. I'm not remotely sympathetic to the plight of the Redskins this year, but you've got to wonder about a franchise that seems to leave no stone unturned when it comes to painting its franchise quarterback in a bad light.
Eagles Must Win To Keep Pace in NFC East - PhiladelphiaEagles.com
The pressure is mounting for the Eagles.
Cardinals vs. Eagles: Madden simulation predicts another Arizona win - Revenge of the Birds
The Madden simulation predicts a 26-16 Cardinals win as the Arizona defense clamps down on the Eagles offense.
