Romo injury could force Cowboys into smarter game plan - The Sports Network
John McMullen writes that because of Orton's lack of mobility compared to Romo, and his inability to extend plays and make something out of nothing like Romo, Garrett and Callahan could be forced to temper their pass-happy default settings and regress to a more conservative plan better suited to attack Philadelphia's weaknesses.
DeMarco Murray: I don’t know if I’ll get more carries; Dallas Cowboys ‘preparing like any other week’ - Jon Machota, DMN
The Cowboys' season high for rush attempts is 26. They'd better have more than that against the Eagles. Or else.
Dallas Cowboys won't install the Wishbone, but a heavy dose of DeMarco Murray is likely - Barry Horn, DMN
Murray has been stellar in the Cowboys’ last three games, rushing 58 times for 376 yards. That’s 6.5 yards per carry. For the season, Murray even leads LeSean McCoy in yards per carry, 5.4 to 5.1. Should the Cowboys lean a bit more on Murray now that Romo is out?

Jason Garrett: Even if Tony Romo doesn't practice Friday, that doesn't mean he misses Dallas Cowboys' game with Eagles - DMN
Garrett is willing to give Romo "more leeway than most," so he wouldn't rule Romo out for Sunday even if Romo doesn't practice on Friday.
"I think he's demonstrated that before. If anybody has a chance to come back from an injury quickly, it's Tony Romo."

Jason Witten won't count out Tony Romo - ESPN Dallas
Witten has seen Romo play through enough injuries to know not to give up on Romo too early:
"I wouldn’t count him out until he’s out," Witten said. "There’s no question. That wouldn’t surprise me, but I do think obviously this is different situation (it) seems like with the back and however that plays out. But you’ve got to prepare with Kyle (Orton) and go as if that’s the case and then see how it plays out."

Roger Staubach spoke with KTCK-AM's this week, and says the Cowboys can win if they contain LeSean McCoy.
Cowboys Injury Report: Dez Bryant Dealing With Back Issues - Blogging The Boys
Tony Romo isn't the only Cowboy dealing with a troublesome back at Valley Ranch. On the positive side, the Cowboys should be getting Morris Claiborne and Dwayne Harris back this week.
Dez Bryant vows to play despite bad back: "I’m playing. Don’t worry about it." - David Moore, DMN
Bryant missed yesterday's practice after aggravating a back injury in Wednesday's practice, but was gung-ho about his chances of playing on Sunday.
"I’m good,’’ Bryant said. "I’m playing. Don’t worry about it.’’
Morris Claiborne is ready to return, but how much will he play? - Charean Williams, Star-Telegram
Claiborne returned to practice Wednesday after missing the past four games. In his absence Orlando Scandrick took over Claibrone's starting spot, and even the nickel spot has been taken over by Sterling Moore, which may not leave a lot of snaps for Claiborne.
Kelly: Injured Lee is a ‘big loss’ for Cowboys - Tom Orsborn, Express-News
Eagles coach Chip Kelly doesn’t think the Cowboys offense will "change drastically" with Kyle Orton instead of Tony Romo, but expects the absence of Sean Lee to be big issue for the Cowboys defense.
"It’s a big loss," Kelly said. "Sean has got to be one of the top linebackers in this league. I think I saw in nine games he had 99 tackles and four interceptions. I know in our game, up close and personal, I saw him just running from sideline to sideline making play after play."
"He does such a good job recognizing his keys and diagnosing plays and he’s just an outstanding football player."

Word of Muth - Football Outsiders
Ben Muth takes along look at the Cowboys O-line, finds some things he doesn't like and some things he likes:
The one thing the Cowboys offensive line has done consistently well in the second half of this season is run the outside zone play. Now, the Cowboys haven’t leaned on it too much, but when Callahan has called it the offensive line has generally executed it well.
