Maybe the Dallas Cowboys are not done in free agency until after the draft. After a lull, there is this tweet from the reliable Adam Schefter:
Cowboys now in talks to sign former Chiefs OT Eric Winston.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 8, 2013
Eric Winston spent most of his career with the Houston Texans before jumping ship last year and playing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Winston is most-definitely a starter, meaning if they actually get through with this move, it would seem to spell the end of Doug Free In Dallas. Winston was supposed to make just under $5 million this year when the Chiefs released him. Most observers were surprised when the Chiefs let him go, he started all sixteen games for them last year.
The market in free agency has been soft and there are quite a few good right tackles still out there. If the Cowboys can get a bargain here, they might just be able to pull it off.
