The National Football League Players Association is going to be holding its Rookie Premiere event from May 16-18 this week, with 40 members of the rookie class of 2013 in attendance. The Dallas Cowboys will be represented by three rookies: Tight end Gavin Escobar, wide receiver Terrance Williams and running back Joseph Randle have all received invitations to participate in the event.
The NFLPA Rookie Premiere, which takes place in Los Angeles, is an opportunity for some of the league’s top rookies to get exposure and meet with sponsors like Nike, EA Sports and the trading card companies. The event is heavily skewed towards skill position players. Only two defensive players will be at the event. In fact, with all the emphasis on defensive and offensive linemen in this year's draft, there will only be six first-round selections in Los Angeles for the Rookie Premiere this year.
The full list of players in attendance can be found here.
All 40 rookies will suit up in their new Nike NFL uniforms and will take pictures in the Rose Bowl for trading card companies Panini and Topps. The rookies will also be signing select cards that will be inserted into new 2013 NFL trading card products. Various activities are scheduled throughout the three days by the different sponsors of the event. Last year, players conducted a healthy lifestyle and fitness program for 200 high school athletes, an NFLPA Premiere League flag football game (free of charge and open to the public, though ironically without any of the rookies) and a red carpet event preceding a party with rookies and veterans.
SB Nation will cover the event, so there's a good chance we'll get some video of the Dallas Cowboys rookies later in the week.
