BTB At The Dallas Cowboys 2013 Training Camp

Nothing beats the Dallas Cowboys training camp... except when it's covered by Blogging The Boys!

USA TODAY Sports

Hey BTBers,

Can you smell that in the air? No, not that... blame that on the dog. The other scent.

I'm talking about the smell of camp, the newness of a new season. It is growing closer and closer and I can tell you from personal experience that the smell of the Pacific Ocean differs from that of the Potomac River. Just a bit.

BTB will be attending training camp this year, as is the custom. For the second year in a row, both OCC and Rabblerousr will be making the trek from their respective corners of the world so that they can bring you the best coverage that money can't buy. It can't buy it, but it sure can help.

Both writers will be going on their own dime, so as usual, we're going to ask you, the BTB community, to help them out. We've created a PayPal account and are asking for donations to cover the expenses associated with going to, and covering, training camp. So if you can pitch in $5, $10, $20 or however much you can spare, please jump in and do it. We'll really appreciate your help!

Here's some info from rabblerousr and OCC to get you pumped up.

Rabblerousr: As I did last year from training camp, I want to study the developmental process, focusing on how it accrues day by day: how are the coaches teaching the install to the players? How have they broken down the various personnel groups, and formations into discrete teachable units? What are their priorities-i.e., what do they teach first each day, when the players are freshest? I'll monitor the developing depth chart, watch the bottom-of-the-roster guys, and toss in position group assessments from time to time. I'll do my best to tweet regular updates and I'll finish it off with a short daily podcast update with KD! Talk about getting your money's worth!

OCC: With this internet thing we have going here, sometimes it's easy to forget that the Cowboys are more than a click away. But from where I'm sitting in Frankfurt, Germany, Oxnard is 5,800 miles away, which should qualify me as the guy with the longest commute to training camp.

I won't be able to make it for the start of camp, but will get there after the Hall of Fame game. Once in camp, I'll man the Twitter desk and provide a more detailed write-up about the day's training session later in the day. If possible, I'd like to look at the question marks that I still have about the team: How's the O-line playing, and who's playing which spot; what are the rookies doing; how are everybody's pet cats doing, because they'll likely receive the least amount of coverage; I'd like to get a feel for how each position coach interacts with his players and more. I don't know if I'll be able to do all that, but I'll at least try - and rabble's idea of a daily podcast sounds like great fun too.
