Training camp for the Dallas Cowboys is almost upon us. The team will be heading out to Oxnard today, and the plane will contain a few extra bodies who the Cowboys hope to sign if they pass their physicals. One of those names is recognizable to hardcore NFL fans, Demetress Bell. Bell is an offensive tackle who has spent five years in the league, playing for Buffalo and last year in Philadelphia. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 draft by Buffalo.

Bell has started a number of games in the NFL, but after signing a big contract in Philadelphia last year, he was let go this offseason. Based on Jimmy K's reaction at Bleeding Green Nation, the Philly fans were none too happy with his play. Bell's numbers from PFF in 2012 back this up - 8 games graded, 9 penalties, 3 sacks, 9 QB hits, 21 QB hurries. That equated to a -24.5 cumulative game grade, including -13.7 in pass protection. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. I guess he'll get a shot at being a backup tackle, either on the left or as a swing guy.

The Cowboys also plan to sign QB Alex Tanney and WR Lavasier Tuinei. You can read about Tanney here, including his trick shot video.
