Cowboys Tyrone Crawford Carted Off Field During First Practice

The opening training camp practice of the Dallas Cowboys 2013 season was supposed to be a happy affair, until a player in the rotation on defense came up injured.

US PRESSWIRE

The Dallas Cowboys first practice of the season looks like it could produce the first major injury of the season. Defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford was carted off the field during the practice session, much of the sideline speculation centering on his Achilles. Crawford was visibly frustrated according to different reports, and his head was lowered as he was being taken on the field. In other words, he seems to think it's serious. We won't jump to a final conclusion just yet, but it definitely has the look of a major injury.

Crawford was expected to see some playing time this season on the second string either at tackle or behind Anthony Spencer on the end. At the end of last year he started to show promise and the Cowboys were looking forward to what he could become after his rookie season. Those plans might be on hold.

We'll see how it plays out, but if he tore an Achilles, the Cowboys depth at tackle and end will be tested. Several players could moved around on the line to fill in, or the Cowboys could look to the free agent market.
