The claiming period for the players released during final cuts yesterday is fairly short: Players placed on waivers during the final roster cuts can only be claimed until 12:00 noon ET today. Beginning at 12:00 noon ET, the Cowboys can begin signing up to eight players to their practice squad, and the hope is that they'll be able to sign all the players they have earmarked for a slot on their practice squad.
But not all the players the Cowboys cut yesterday may make it past the waiver wire, or will they?
The Cowboys didn't release any of their 2013 draft picks, but there still may be some players that could garner some interest:
- The Cowboys graded Brandon Magee with a fourth-round grade and gave the UDFA a large guarantee to sign in Dallas. Could he be of interest to LB-needy teams?
- QB Alex Tanney has shown enough potential (for a while) to have many Cowboys fans clamoring to put him on the 53-man roster.
- RB Kendial Lawrence could develop into a Darren Sproles-type speedster. Any other team willing to take that bet?
- What about players like CB Micah Pellerin, LB Caleb McSurdy, WR Danny Coale, or S Jakar Hamilton?
But the waiver wire claim can also be made on players who are not practice squad eligible anymore (because they have gained an accrued NFL season by being on the active roster for at least six games). This would apply to yesterday's surprise cut CB Sterling Moore, but also to OG/OC Kevin Kowalski.
Or are we Cowboys fans significantly overrating the attractiveness of our own roster cuts, and not one of the Cowboys' roster cuts will be signed elsewhere?
Take the poll and let us know who you think is the player most likely to get picked up by another team by high noon ET today.
