Bryant, Romo ready to go for Cowboys - The Sports Network
Tony Romo and Dez Bryant look good to go against the Chiefs after suffering injury scares in last week's game against the Giants. Both were full participants in practice all week.
Cowboys' Tony Romo must turn his edge in talent into September victories - Tim Cowlishaw, DMN
Cowlishaw argues that for the next three games, the Cowboys have a better QB in Tony Romo than their opponents. But he also warns that if the Cowboys move away from the successful short-passing, low risk game they played against the Giants, mistakes will come and they could be costly.
"But we know what can happen with Romo when the green light is given. The yards come quickly and so can the turnovers. His 19 interceptions last season matched his career high set in 2007, his first full season as a starter. That shouldn’t happen with a veteran quarterback in the middle of his career. You’d rather have Romo on your side at this stage, for this game than Smith, and you’d still take Romo the next two weeks, too. You just want to make sure you’re getting the right Romo."
Dallas Cowboys' Miles Austin not worried about being No. 1 receiver - Calvin Watkins, ESPNDallas
Despite Bryant's stellar second half of the 2012 season and the accompanying offseason headlines, Austin is the Cowboys' main receiving threat with 10 receptions against the Giants last week. But Austin isn't worried about who is where on the depth chart.
"I’m taking it one day at a time, to be honest with you," Austin said. "I’m trying my best every day at practice, trying my best during the games, and we’ll see what happens."
"At the end of the day, defenses are going to play how they play and it’s our job to execute the play the best we can," Austin said. Quarterback Tony Romo is "going to get it to whoever needs to get it right then. That’s kind of the way we run it. Hopefully it works out."
Pondering the 46: Cowboys heavy on D - Todd Archer, ESPN
Todd Archer thinks the Cowboys will go heavy on the defensive line, and projects the seven inactive players as follows: TE Andre Smith, LB Ernie Sims, WR Cole Beasley, OG David Arkin, OT Darrion Weems, DE Caesar Rayford.
Dunta Robinson of Kansas City Chiefs not expecting to play vs. Dallas Cowboys, source says - ESPN
Chiefs cornerback Dunta Robinson is expected to miss today's game. Robinson did not attend practices this week as he attended to a cousin who is in a coma after being struck by a car. Robinson is the third corner in Kansas City behind starters Brandon Flowers and Sean Smith, but he still played 26 of 74 snaps versus the Jaguars last week. Stepping up in Robinson's absence will be rookie Marcus Cooper and journeyman Ron Parker, both of whom only joined the Chiefs after final cuts.
Cowboys’ offense may seem the same, but change is everywhere - Rainer Sabin, DMN
Pistol formations, hurry-up offense, passes to running backs - Sabin argues that despite these changes the offense didn't produce dramatically different results from last year, and ends up concluding that the commitment to the ground game remains questionable. Somehow he arrives at that conclusion despite 23 total rushing attempts and 28 total touches by DeMarco Murray.
Cowboys Corner: Garrett agrees there are 'lessons to learn' from Cowboys' experience in Seattle last year - Carlos Mendez, Star-Telegram
Our own rabblerousr already explored the similarities between the Chiefs game this year and the Seahawks game last year, and Jason Garrett concedes the Cowboys have had similar thoughts.
"I think there are some lessons to learn," coach Jason Garrett said. "We had a good win last year, up in New York, a game the visiting team hadn't won in 12 years. That was a big win for our team, to win one on the road against a really, really good football team, in a hard environment."
"In Seattle, we didn't do the things that winning football teams do. We fumbled the opening kickoff and made some other mistakes. It’s a crowd as loud as there is in the National Football League, got even louder early on in that game. There will be some similar challenges this week."
Three keys to a Cowboys victory and a prediction - Tom Orsborn, MySA
Orsborn likes the Chiefs for the win.
"After spending the past 14 years with the Eagles, the Chiefs’ Andy Reid knows the Cowboys better than any coach in the NFL. Couple that with his young, talented team being determined to shine in its home opener, and you have Reid improving his regular season record against Dallas to 18-11 and Garrett falling back into that .500 feeling he knows so well. CHIEFS 24, COWBOYS 17"
Of course, we can cherry-pick stats with the best of them, so here goes: Over the last 6 years, Reid is only 5-8 against the Cowboys.
Cowboys didn’t play much Tampa Two in Week One - ProFootballTalk
PFT makes a big deal out of the fact that the Cowboys didn't show a lot of classic Tampa-2 formations. The Cowboys of course never said they were going to play a classic Tampa-2 scheme, but for the purposes of this article, that's not relevant.
In case you missed it:
OL Brian Waters told one of the coaches to put 315 on the bar. "Oh you wanna get up to 315" said coach, No I wanna warm up with 315.

Brian Waters worked his way into the low 400's with casually doing 5-6 reps. Wow!

REMINDER: If you haven't submitted your Week 2 picks for KDP's 10-by-10 contest, now would be a good time. After all, it is "the webisphere's best pick'em contest."
