Garrett said Rod Marinelli's ability to build relationships with his players is at the core of Marinelli's coaching:
"It’s a hard day’s work. In a really good way," Garrett said at the owners meetings in Orlando. "But I think when you’re asking guys to do a lot, and demanding that guys do a lot, developing that relationship with them is an important piece to that. They understand that what you’re asking them to do is in their best interest and ultimately in the team’s best interest."

Marinelli’s ability to connect with his linemen and get the best out of them hasn’t gone unnoticed. Every defensive lineman who worked with Marinelli last year raved about the coach’s talents, as owner/general manager Jerry Jones recognized.

Mincey's former Jaguars coach, Gus Bradley, is very complimentary about the Cowboys' new defensive end.
"He is really strong,’’ Jacksonville’s Gus Bradley said. "He is good at the point of attack. I think he has some inside rush. For us he got some pressure on the quarterback."
"I know I have had extended conversations with him and you do gravitate towards him. He is open-minded to listening and hearing things. And with a guy like Rod Marinelli there he will continue to improve."
When prompted for why the Jaguars cut Mincey, Bradley added that Mincey "had maybe too many distractions." Turns out, Mincey was late for several meetings, in part, as Moore writes, because Mincey had a recording studio in Jacksonville that proved a distraction.
