NFL Power Rankings In May? Yes, They Exist

Why not, let's see what ESPN thinks of the Cowboys.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

What's sillier than mock drafts for the next year immediately after a draft? Just maybe NFL Power Rankings in May. But, this is the NFL, when everything is now 365 days a year. What do the new NFL power rankings have to say about the Cowboys? It's kind of inexplicable. Everyone basically acknowledges that the Cowboys had a good draft. Most grades were  a "B" and the like, with almost no one saying Dallas failed on draft weekend. Maybe it was the free agency loss of DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher, because the Cowboys dropped five spots from their end of year ranking.

22 Cowboys 8-8 (Down 5 from Last Week: 17) Notre Dame allowed a sack on 1.8 percent of passing plays (attempts plus sacks) last year, third best in FBS. Zack Martin should plug in and play well right away.

I don't know, of course it's silly to even debate this stuff, but #22 seems a little low to me. What do you guys think? I'd probably put Dallas at #18, maybe #16. Our NFC East brethren ranked: #9 Eagles, #19 Giants, #28 Redskins.

Giants ahead of Cowboys? Hmm...
