The draft is over, free-agency is gone, we are well into OTAs and mini-camps, so what remains on the horizon is the next, greatest step for the 2015 Dallas Cowboys and their fans: training camp in Oxnard, CA.
This year, the Cowboys will be traveling out to beautiful Oxnard for camp, and BTB plans to send two or three front page writers out there to cover the proceedings. Rabblerousr, who has covered the last three camps, will take the first leg, covering the first three weeks; Michael Sisemore will cover the final week. Both men will do this on their own dime.
As we have done the last few years, we take this opportunity to ask you, the BTB community, to help out with the expenses. This year, training camp is longer than usual, a full four weeks. We hope to be able to send our guys to cover all of training camp, including - we hope - both California preseason games, against the Chargers and 49ers. That will end up costing a bit of cash, so please consider helping out. Whether it's a small amount, or for you well-to-do members, a bigger chunk, any and all donations will be gratefully accepted.
And, we're pleased to announce that one generous BTB member has already got the ball rolling by donating his frequent flyer miles to fly one of our writers round trip to Los Angeles!
What will you get for your money? The highest-quality coverage of training camp anywhere. Here's what Michael will be looking for:
I will be covering any breaking news including possible additions to the roster with scouting reports and cuts. I'll cover any camp ailments or injuries as well as position battles and game recaps. What the coaches liked and disliked and everything in-between. Plus a social media reaction to the Cowboys performance through the preseason.
And, in case you have forgotten, here's what Rabbs usually covers:
As I did the last couple of years, I'll pay particular attention to the developmental process, focusing on how it accrues day by day: how are the coaches teaching the install to the players? How have they broken down the various personnel groups, and formations into discrete teachable units? What are their priorities-i.e., what do they teach first each day, when the players are freshest? I'll monitor the developing depth chart, watch the bottom-of-the-roster guys, and toss in position group assessments from time to time. I'll tweet regular updates, hold Twitter question-and-answer sessions as often as possible, and join my LA-based podcast partner, Landon McCool, for regular camp updates. Talk about getting your money's worth!
Want some examples of what this looks like? Check out an example of a practice "summary" (which is more detailed than any full reports you'll get from other outlets). And here is a full report, complete with photos and unique tidbits.
So please, help us out. This is the only time all year we ask for any kind of financial assistance and you guys always come through. Hit the secure PayPal donation button below to drop us some cash.
Thanks BTB Community, you're the best!
