Yesterday, the Cowboys cut defensive end Ken Boatright, which caused some commotion among the faithful. But, as reported earlier, Boatright is back with the Cowboys on the practice squad. Perhaps the only player cut yesterday that caused a bigger tumult among the Cowboys fans was running back Ryan Williams. His outstanding work in the preseason had many saying the Cowboys should keep him on the 53-man roster. They didn't do that, but they accomplished the next best thing. Williams is now on the Cowboys practice squad.
Running back Ryan Williams, who was waived by the team Saturday after leading the team in rushing yards and catches in the preseason, is the biggest name among the group of additions. Williams, who was not claimed by another team, is among six players who have been signed to the developmental unit. The others are defensive end Ken Boatright, guard Ronald Patrick, linebacker Keith Smith and cornerback Micah Pellerin. Of the six, only Pellerin was with another team, the Tennessee Titans, during the preseason. He had a stint with the Cowboys in 2013, serving on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster and appearing in two games.
The Cowboys also added linebacker Will Smith.

Wide receiver Tim Benford is also signed to the practice squad, as the tweet from Bryan Broaddus below shows (using a camera to take a picture of your screen gives a whole new meaning to the word "screenshot")
