Here we go Dallas Cowboys fans. Our first look at the 2014 edition of the team. Sure, we'll be missing starters like Tony Romo, Jason Witten, DeMarco Murray, Brandon Carr and others. And yes, it's just a pre-season game. But still, after the long wait from that final game of the 2013 season, the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that knocked us out of the playoffs, this feels like heaven. Actual football, albeit football that doesn't count and is played with a decidedly different strategy, it's still football. Welcome back NFL, and not a moment too soon.
Defensive end George Selvie (groin), defensive tackle Terrell McClain (ankle), defensive tackle Ben Bass (hamstring), defensive end Ben Gardner (shoulder), linebacker Rolando McClain (hamstring, quadriceps), linebacker Will Smith (groin), safety Matt Johnson (hamstring), cornerback Sterling Moore (groin), cornerback Morris Claiborne (knee), safety Jakar Hamilton (concussion), wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe (concussion) and tackle Darrion Weems (shoulder) will not play.
Some things to watch:
- Who breaks out at running back? Murray and Lance Dunbar are not expected to play. So who among Joseph Randle, Ryan Williams and Ben Malena will make their mark?
- Can anybody along the defensive line separate themselves from the pack. Tyrone Crawford? Davon Coleman?
- Is it going to be Ronald Leary or Mackenzy Bernadeau at left guard. The battle really begins tonight.
