Pick 256 Challenge - Don't Be A Chicken, Submit Your Week Two Picks Right Now

Have a look at the Week 1 results, and don't forget to submit your picks for our Pick 256 Challenge.

Laurence Griffiths

Pick 256 is a season-long contest in which BTB members and readers get to pick the straight-up winners for all games each week. Each week we'll provide an online entry form for BTB readers to input their picks. Here's the link to the Week 2 entry form:

Thanks to the programming prowess of our own Coty Saxman, the link above should auto-populate your BTB user name into the entry form (in most cases). If you prefer not to use your BTB user name, or are not a BTB member, go ahead and enter a name of your choosing, but try to stick with that name throughout the season. What's the use of competing for bragging rights if nobody knows who you are?

Submissions have to be in by kickoff time of the Steelers @ Ravens game, which kicks off at 8:30 pm ET on Thursday. To keep a level playing field for everybody, late submissions will not be accepted (all entries are time-stamped). This gives you a two to three day window for your pick submission.

Note that we will be handing out a number of as yet undetermined awards at the end of the seasoon. One will obviously be the "Pick 256 Champion" for the participant(s) who have the most correct predictons over the course of the season. But there'll also be an award for the "Cowboys Whisperer" going to the participant(s) who most accurately predict the 16 Cowboys games, wins or losses. So there's no need to pick the Cowboys all the time. If you want to win, you've got to be ruthless - and you've got to avoid stupid mistakes, something the Cowboys should take to heart as well.

Week 1 Results

Last week, we provided you with a spreadsheet showing the picks of all 467 entrants in the BTB Pick256 Challenge. If the formulas in that spreadseet are correct, and if you've entered the winners of the sixteen games correctly, here is what you should see in terms of results:

  • The consensus pick came out at 10-6.
  • The median result was 9 correct picks, 19 entries achieved 12 correct picks.

Important Technical Stuff For Your Pick Entry

The entry form looks as follows:

Pick_256_form_medium

The form contains all games of the particular week, with the home team always listed as the second choice. You have to pick a winner for each game, or you will not be able to submit the form.

The checkboxes allow you to pick one of the two teams for the win. This is a straight-up challenge, we are not picking against the spread. The odds listed are for reference only; they are the odds at the time the form was put together, and may change subsequently.

Submit only one pick sheet per person. In case of multiple submission by the same user name, we will always keep the later pick and delete the earlier pick.

Editing Your Picks

Once you've successfully entered your picks and have pressed 'Submit' at the bottom of the entry form, you'll be taken to a 'Thank You' page like the one below.

Please click 'Edit your response,' and you'll be taken to the form below, from where you can edit your input immediately. Once there, bookmark the URL of the page in the address line of your browser, or copy and save the URL somewhere for later use.

Important: Going to that specific URL and saving or bookmarking it is the only way to edit your picks at a later point.

With all of the technical stuff out of the way, good luck with your picks.
