Cowboys 2015 Free Agents: Greg Hardy Visiting With Dallas Today

Things are picking up steam on the Greg Hardy front.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday it was reported that the Cowboys had been doing some background checking on free agent Greg Hardy. I thought they may be laying the ground work for discussions down the line. Turns out, that schedule might be accelerated. Nick Eatman reports that Hardy will visit Valley Ranch this afternoon (March 17).

If the Cowboys are bringing Hardy in for a visit, it means there is serious interest. Adam Schefter reports there have been negotiations.

Hardy and the Cowboys are engaged in ongoing negotiations, but an agreement has not been reached yet, the source told Schefter.

Now, there still could be delays in moving forward with any serious negotiations or deals. The one big obstacle is teams are waiting to hear from the NFL on what kind of suspension Hardy will get for the domestic violence incident. That decision is expected to happen later this week. Six games is the number that has been suggested by reporters in the know, but we'll have to wait and see.

Outside of the off-the-field stuff, Greg Hardy is exactly what the Cowboys need. A young (26) defensive end with proven production rushing the passer. If they can get him at a reasonable price, and the suspension is not too big, AND he stays out of any trouble and turns his life around from the ugly incident that has been attached to his name, then Dallas scored big in free agency.
