When it was reported earlier today that free agent defensive end Greg Hardy was coming to Dallas for a visit, we knew things had gotten serious. But, it was also reported that he was going to visit the Seattle Seahawks and possibly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was also suggested that no team was planning to sign him without hearing from the league about any suspension coming up in 2015 for Hardy. That could be a significant suspension in the range of six games, but for the Cowboys to be progressing this far, they probably have a good idea of what it will be.
The Cowboys may not be waiting on any of that as they are still meeting with Hardy, and he's planning to stay overnight.
A day of discussions has now turned into an evening of dinner.
Greg Hardy doesn't have a contract but his visit with the Cowboys is far from done. A source said the defensive end is scheduled to go to dinner with members of the coaching staff this evening and will stay overnight as the two sides try to hammer out a contract.
In addition, Seattle has come out and said they don't have a visit planned, and Tampa Bay also says they have no firm plans. The Cowboys might be trying to put together an incentive-laden contract that would pay Hardy for part of this year, and then leave options open for the following years.
