Cowboys 2015 Free Agents: Anthony Spencer Visiting Saints, Rob Ryan, According To Report

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Spencer is meeting with one of his old defensive coordinators on a trip to the bayou according to a report. The Cowboys defensive end is set to meet with the New Orleans Saints and that means some time with ex-Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

As the 2014 season rolled on, Spencer's game improved noticeably. By the end of the season he was showing some of the burst he had before the microfracture surgery that wiped out his 2013 season. Spencer has been with the Cowboys since 2007, and his age (31) and injury do work against him on the market.

Now that Dallas is running a 4-3, Spencer has been playing with his hand down, but if he reunites with Rob Ryan in New Orleans, he'll likely be spending time standing up as an outside linebacker. Spencer had his best year in 2012 under Ryan with 11 sacks.

With Greg Hardy, Jeremy Mincey and DeMarcus Lawrence under contract for the 2015 season, it's unlikely the Cowboys will spend much on a free agent vet at defensive end. They could also look to the future and the draft for some new blood at the position.
