Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence among ESPN's second-year breakout candidates - NFL
In this In$ider piece, Field Yates writes that the offseason between an NFL player's rookie and second campaigns can provide the most room for growth, and include Lawrence among his breakout candidates for 2015.
While it remains to be seen if new Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy will be suspended by the NFL, when he does make his Dallas debut the team will immediately have a venerable duo of rushers. Lawrence, the team's 2014 second-round pick, played in just seven regular-season games last year due to a foot injury. Athletic and explosive off the edge, Lawrence is a building block for the Dallas defense.
2015 NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Cowboys trade up for a running back? - CBSSports.com
In Will Brinson's latest mock draft, the Cowboys move up from 27 to 21 to grab Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon, making this only the third time the Cowboys have drafted a running back in the first round since 1978.
With the Cardinals potentially eyeing a running back in the draft and Todd Gurley off the board, the Cowboys make a move up in order to grab their long-term replacement for DeMarco Murray. Couple Gordon with Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle and the Cowboys should have enough manpower to make up for the loss of a feature back.
Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly's spending spree could backfire - ESPN
Phil Sheridan walks through the Eagles recent spending spree and notes that the cap space available for the Eagles has shrunk significantly. Then, in an argument all too familiar to Cowboys fans who've spent decades rationalizing away the Cowboys cap mismanagement, Sheridan writes that the Eagles will be all right because "the salary cap has risen each year."
I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.
