A couple of roster designations for the Cowboys as they open camp.

[UPDATE] The Cowboys have added Darren McFadden to the PUP list. He is another player who has had trouble staying healthy in his career, his hamstrings are the issue at the beginning of the 2015 camp. [END UPDATE]

[UPDATE, part II] The Cowboys have placed Keith Rivers on the reserve/ retired list. Rivers signed a deal for the veteran minimum this offseason, and was facing a battle for a roster spot [END UPDATE]

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to open their 2015 training camp in Oxnard, they had some minor housekeeping to perform. Two players, linebacker Rolando McClain and offensive tackle Chaz Green, have been placed on the physically unable to perform list to start camp.

McClain had minor knee surgery back in June and spent most of the summer rehabbing away from Valley Ranch. McClain has a history of injuries keeping him from practicing and that pattern will continue for at least the beginning of camp. He is also facing four games on the sideline to start the regular season as a result of his suspension for substance abuse violations.

Chaz Green was the Cowboys pick in the third round of this past draft and was expected to compete for the swing tackle position behind Tyron Smith and Doug Free. A hip injury has put that plan on hold for now as he recovers from his surgery over the summer. Injury also has a history with Green, something that hurt his draft stock even though his talent was attractive to NFL teams.
