The Dallas Cowboys decided they needed some new blood out at training camp in Oxnard, so they made a number of roster transactions today. They cut four players and added four players. Those let go were running back Lache Seastrunk, wide receivers Deontay Greenberry and Reggie Dunn, and cornerback Brandon Smith. Seastrunk was trying to make a move at running back with all of the injuries that have hit camp, but was never able to make much of an impression. He got some carries in the preseason game but looked to be too much of a freelance runner as opposed to the disciplined "one cut and hit the hole" runner that the Cowboys need for their scheme. Greenberry had a little buzz over the offseason but never was able to make a true impression.
In their place the Cowboys signed wide receivers Phil Bates and Edmond Gates and they also added linebacker Dakorey Johnson. All three of those players were given a tryout after the morning's walk-thru practice. In addition, Dallas claimed cornerback Rod Sweeting after the Bills released him. He had spent time with the Saints in the 2013 season.
