Dallas Cowboys Roster Moves 2015: Cowboys Cut QBs Dustin Vaughan, Jameill Showers

The Cowboys decide to go short at the QB position.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

In addition to the five players released yesterday, the Cowboys released two of their quarterbacks today.

Dustin Vaughan and Jameill Showers were both informed they were going to be cut, even if the Cowboys would like to have both players back on the practice squad.

For now, this means the Cowboys will go into the season with just two quarterbacks on the roster, starter Tony Romo and backup Brandon Weeden, which will give them some more flexibility at other positions.

Vaughan made the 53-man roster last year but he didn't have a great preseason, so the news doesn't come as a surprise. Showers on the other hand has shown enough, both at QB and on special teams, to at least intrigue the Cowboys.

All NFL teams have about one more hour to reach their 53-man roster. The Dallas Cowboys are no exception. We'll be tracking their cuts as we receive them and posting them here.
