Cowboys Looking At Nick Foles, Also Considering Trade For Backup QB - OCC, Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys are looking at various options to replace Kellen Moore after his leg injury.

Nick Foles wouldn't cost the Cowboys anything in terms of trade capital, while the Browns and Buccaneers would almost certainly demand a king's ransom in a trade for Josh McCown or Mike Glennon.

Foles Among Several Options Cowboys Are Considering To Replace Moore - David Helman, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys don’t practice on Wednesday afternoon, but their front office is hard at work addressing its recent loss at the quarterback position.

"He’s had success against us for the Eagles, so we see him a lot," Jones said. "He’s got a big arm. Obviously, when you have a great offensive line like we have and we thing we’re going to have a very solid running game. The  thing you worry about is people trying to suffocate you, and he’s proven he can get the ball down the field. He’s got a lot of attributes that fit well for us."

Dallas Cowboys having discussions with Nick Foles - Todd Archer, ESPN
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Nick Foles now has a couple options, with one being Dallas, and a decision is likely Wednesday or Thursday.

"We have to un-turn every stone," Jones said. "We have teams that are obviously calling to let us know that they may have a guy, somebody available, and we have to uncover that. The No. 1 priority is to get it right. Expeditiously is No. 2. We want to get a guy in here sooner rather than later. I'm not one of those guys, 'Are you close? Will it get done by the end of the day?' We want to get it done as soon as we possibly can whether that's today, tomorrow or whenever it needs to get done."

But then this happened:

Browns' Josh McCown on the Cowboys' radar to replace Kellen Moore - Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com
Josh McCown is on the Cowboys' radar to replace backup quarterback Kellen Moore, and will be more in the mix if they don't sign free agent Nick Foles.

If the Cowboys traded for McCown, 37, they'd assume his salary, which is $4.375 million this season and $3.625 million next season.

Cowboys in market for veteran QB - Chris Wesseling, NFL.com
With Kellen Moore out with a broken ankle, the Cowboys are kicking the tires on a couple of proven starters to back up Tony Romo, and Wesseling sound almost euphoric about what Josh McCown could add to the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are kicking the tires on a couple of proven starters with the potential to operate as significant upgrades.

NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that executive vice president Stephen Jones touched base with the agent for former Pro Bowl MVP Nick Foles, recently released by the Rams; however, Foles agreed to terms with the Chiefs on Wednesday night. Even better, the team is looking into a trade for relegated Browns veteran Josh McCown, per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Should Jones pull off a swap for a capable stand-in such McCown, the Cowboys will have a chance to enter the season with their strongest quarterback room of the Romo era.

Michael Vick hopes to hear from the Cowboys - Michael David Smith, ProFootballTalk
The Cowboys have a need at backup quarterback. Michael Vick needs a job. Perhaps the two can get together.

Vick told Anderson that he’s in great shape — better shape than he was in last season as a backup with the Steelers — and believes he still has something left.

"I just want to put the helmet on one more time and dedicate myself to football," Vick said.

The Cowboys may be without their star draft pick for a while after Ezekiel Elliott tweaked his hamstring.

We all know how hamstring issues, especially for the skill players, can be nagging, reoccurring nightmares, so it's best for the Cowboys to shut Zeke down until they can get it fully under control. Jones also said the Cowboys probably won't sign another running back because RB/FB hybrid Rod Smith can help with the rotation at camp.
