Dallas Cowboys To Add New Defensive End To The Roster

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

The Cowboys are starting the process of churning the roster, something they will do throughout the season. Sources report the Cowboys will sign defensive end Ryan Davis, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Davis played four seasons in Jacksonville and notched 11 sacks in that time. The Cowboys released cornerback Dax Swanson yesterday.

The Cowboys managed two sacks against Eli Manning and the New York Giants on Sunday, but they were unable to create any significant pressure on a regular basis. This was especially disappointing considering that New York had been tabbed as one of the weaker offensive lines.

The Cowboys also worked out 13 other players at The Star.

Quarterback Sean Renfree, who spent 2013-15 with the Atlanta Falcons, worked out for the coaches and scouting staff. Also working out were wide receiver Josh Boyce (TCU), guard Emmett Cleary, defensive tackle A.J. Francis, offensive tackle Bryce Harris, defensive end Shelby Harris, linebacker Lenny Jones, defensive tackle Leon Orr, tackle William Poehls, defensive end Ryan Robinson, cornerback Sammy Seamster, guard Ryan Seymour and wide receiver DeAndrew White.
