Cowboys injury update: David Irving still not practicing, Anthony Hitchens also sits

The Cowboys best defensive tackle is still not practicing.

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, we updated the Tyron Smith situation with the news that he has a sprained LCL in his knee and he won’t practice today. It’s possible he may not play this week, and depending on the severity of the injury, could miss additional time.

Also missing from the Wednesday practice will be defensive tackle David Irving. Irving ended up with a concussion in the Washington game, and hasn’t practiced or played since. That’s over two weeks now, which is actually a little bit concerning. The Cowboys could certainly use an agile and instinctive pass rusher like Irving this week, they will be facing Russell Wilson who is so hard to contain in the pocket. Irving would certainly upgrade the Cowboys ability to get a hold of Wilson, who is single-handedly keeping the Seahawks afloat.

Anthony Hitchens will also miss today’s practice, although both Stephen and Jerry Jones seem pretty optimistic that he’ll be ready to go come game time. La’el Collins is also sitting out today’s practice, a regular occurrence for him.

Orlando Scandrick and Brice Butler are expected to be limited. Scandrick could play after missing two games when he fractured two bones in his back.

And, by the way, the Cowboys expect Ezekiel Elliott to go through a normal practice today.
