NFL free agency is slowing down, so getting back to the upcoming NFL draft is a popular thing. The draft takes place in the last days of April, but the mock drafts are in full swing. Today, ESPN analyst Todd McShay released his third mock of the season, so let’s take a peek and see who the Cowboys picked up.

28. Dallas Cowboys, 13-3

Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

Charlton is just a solid all-around player -- he can get after the QB and stop the run -- and Dallas could use a few more of those along the defensive line. He has always had the raw ability, but this past season he showed more consistency and refined technique, finishing the season on a tear (10 sacks in his final 10 games).

There is no surprise in that pick. First and foremost, odds are that in any mock draft the Cowboys are picking a pass rusher at #28. It is definitely the Cowboys biggest need, especially after they signed Nolan Carroll in free agency, giving them at least three corners going into the season.

Taco Charlton is a name that has shown up on many mock drafts for the Cowboys. The real question is will he actually make it to #28? He was already projected by some to go in the first half of the first round, and he didn’t lose any ground with his combine performance.

Charlton stood out with a 33-inch vertical jump but also ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds, bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times, and had an 116-inch (nine feet, eight inches) broad jump.

NFL.com gave him a 6.58 rating after the combine, and that's in the range designated as having a "chance to become a Pro Bowl-caliber player." For comparison sake, Wolverines safety prospect Jabrill Peppers was assigned a 6.14 rating that predicted: "Should become an instant starter."

Getting Charlton at #28 would be a nice pick for the Cowboys, but is it even possible? McShay is respected and usually has a decent grasp on these things, so we can take some comfort - if you’re a Charlton fan - that he will be available.

The other pass rushers went like this:

#1 Myles Garrett (Cleveland), #2 Solomon Thomas (San Francisco), #11 Derek Barnett (New Orleans), #21 Charles Harris (Detroit), #30 Takkarist McKinley (Pittsburgh).

So, do you like Charlton BTB? And do you think he will be available?
