As was reported a couple of weeks ago, there is a mutual interest between the Dallas Cowboys and veteran quarterback Josh McCown. Multiple sources are reporting that the Cowboys will host McCown today as they look for a potential backup quarterback to Dak Prescott.

This news is further confirmation of what we already know but Jerry Jones keeps trying to hide, that the Cowboys are moving on in 2017 without Tony Romo. Not that there was much doubt about it, but bringing in an actual backup would seal the deal.

Earlier this week Jones made it seem like Kellen Moore would be the veteran backup and that the Cowboys may try to develop another young quarterback. It may still be Moore, money is always an issue and McCown has a better pedigree and may want more money.

Moore is also a favorite of Scott Linehan and knows the Cowboys system, so he is ready to step in. But McCown has more experience and they may want a veteran presence who has been around the block a few times to help with the continuing maturation of Dak Prescott.
