To be clear, Ezekiel Elliott has not been arrested or charged with anything related to an incident last night at a Dallas bar. By reporting on the facts, we are not presuming innocence or guilt. At this point, the Dallas police department has an ongoing investigation, but they have not named Elliott as a suspect. What is certain is that the NFL is aware of the incident.
“We are aware of the matter and looking into it to understand the facts,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT via email regarding the report of a Sunday night incident at a Dallas bar involving Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
TMZ has posted a video of a person who was hit at the bar, showing the immediate aftermath, but Elliott does not appear anywhere in it. In the TMZ story, they claim that witnesses have said that Elliott was the person who punched the man.
The person who shot the video tells us the man was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman who was in Ezekiel's party ... when Ezekiel got involved.
The witness says she saw Ezekiel punch the man -- corroborating the story the victim's friend told police. However, cops at the scene could not confirm Zeke was the attacker and he has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
In addition, the Dallas Morning News has posted a tweet from a person who claims they were there and saw Elliott punch the victim.
As of now, all we have are these reports. Nothing from the police department involving Elliott’s name, or any statements from the Cowboys or Elliott himself. TMZ’s report has more detail:
Cops at the bar spoke to a man who said his nose was just broken -- but the man appeared to be extremely intoxicated and couldn't remember who hit him.
The man's friend told police, "It was that Dallas Cowboys running back."
We're told the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries.
Cops said they did NOT speak with Elliott at the scene. He was not at the club by the time they tried to look for him.
Cops said, based on the lack of information and the fact the accuser appeared to be intoxicated, no arrests were made.
A rep for Elliott would only say his client was not arrested and no formal criminal complaint has been filed against the RB.
