One year ago, the Dallas Cowboys played the Los Angeles Rams in a preseason game. At the time, no one knew that the future of the Cowboys was getting his start. Dak Prescott wowed in that game, and never stopped. The Cowboys are heading to play the Rams again in preseason, and Prescott may get a series or two, but it sure will be a different feel this time. No longer fighting for a job, he’s the undisputed leader of this team.
The rest of the Cowboys starters, at least many of them, should get their first taste of football in an organized way for the 2017 season. Dez Bryant has already made it sound like he’s going to play, but the Cowboys might hold out anybody who is even a little dinged up, like Tyron Smith.
On defense, everybody would like to see Jaylon Smith play, but at this point most observers seem to think that’s doubtful. No official word yet from the Cowboys. Taco Charlton will get a second chance to try and impress the masses, coming up short in his first attempt against the Cardinals. Probably nothing short of a sack or some tackles in the backfield will satisfy. Sean Lee’s recent hamstring injury probably keeps him out.
