Even though this is the Dallas Cowboys fourth preseason game, it’s their “dress rehearsal” since they still have one more to play after they meet the Raiders on Saturday night. As such, Cowboys fans should get a decent look at the starters in the game, including, apparently, Ezekiel Elliott. Dak Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys should get extended time to build on their stellar performance last week against the Colts. Can Jonathan Cooper put a hammerlock on the starting left guard position Saturday night? A strong performance just might lock it up for Cooper.
On offense we won’t see Rico Gathers, a disappointment for the fans. Ryan Switzer has been limited in practice, he’s a player Cowboys fans would love to get a glimpse of in action.
On defense, we’ll get our second look at Jaylon Smith, and our first look this year at Sean Lee who is expected to play. Will we see that dynamic duo together at any time during the game? Unfortunately the Cowboys will likely be missing many of the players they’d like to get prepped for the season, like rookies Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis and Xavier Woods in the secondary. Charles Tapper is another player who has been banged up but needs some game reps.
If there is one preseason game to watch for the fan, this is it. The Cowboys starters could see extended time, along with the Raiders players, leading to what is the best facsimile of real football we’ll see in the preseason.
