Cowboys Camp Day 11: All your highlights from the 11th practice of training camp

How about a fresh batch of highlights from today’s training camp practice.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys were back out on the field in Oxnard to go through their 11th practice of training camp. Just a few things to clear up before we get into today’s practice highlights. Here’s Chidobe Awuzie serenading CowboysNation before practice:

Yesterday’s practice ended on a low point with a seemingly devastating injury to Tyrone Crawford. It seems as his demise may have been a bit premature and shout out to some of our BTB community who mentioned that much before a late night confirmation.

We had a few guys in the forums of BTB that noticed the picture may have looked nasty but an ankle roll can be extremely painful but usually not serious. It seems that Crawford has a sprain that will keep him out of the preseason but not a season-ender. That’s way better news than we ended with. Also a bit of more good news:

And because it can’t be shown enough...Chris Jones has earned every bit of his nickname, “The Puntisher”:

Alright, now that all the news is out of the way, let’s get on with the highlights of practice.

First off, here are the guys that weren’t practicing today:

Not sure how severe Marquez White’s hamstring is or why Taco’s limited but we’ll continue to monitor those things. Here were the veteran’s taking today off:

Monitoring Tyron Smith’s back, although not as severe, will be a continuous thing similar to former quarterback Tony Romo. They did it a little bit last year with giving him practices off, it’ll happen again this year. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

Some people take days off while others get their workout in:

Jaylon Smith was back practicing after having a rest day as well:

Doesn’t he just look like a menacing linebacker?

As mentioned, Taco wasn’t working with the pass rushers during the drills, he was off to the side, in full pads, with the trainers, perhaps working on strength? Here are the pass rushers running their drills:

Maliek “The Freak” Collins:

Here’s a shot of Chido giving hell to that tackling dummy:

We had another guy get a little dinged up, Brice Butler:

It looks like he’ll be okay but you want guys to show out without going down too hard, the ground doesn't give much.

Here’s is a really cool slow motion shot of Kavon Frazier in a passing drill:

Damien Wilson is pretty good in coverage but not good enough to hold back Ezekiel Elliott:

Also, Zeke had a nice heads-up play to bounce this one outside:

He may be a liability as a blocker, he may have missed a ton of assignments in the first preseason game, but they don’t win it without Rico Gathers. Check this out:

Bryan Broaddus’ pet cat was getting a chance to take reps at left tackle:

Oh, you’re not going to catch Dak, Mr. Lawrence...

Here’s a better view:

Stephen Paea has been surprisingly strong but this guy did put up 49 reps at the Combine, breaking their record:

Here’s Jaylon Smith playing first-team MLB but watch Zeke take the play away from any playmaker in the middle:

Today’s practice was physical and had a little edge to it, maybe it was by design?

This reminds you of that play Cole Beasley made against the Giants during that one game, that duck move is saucy:

Like DJ Khaled says “Another one!” Byron Jones saw this one all day:

Was that a tip drill? A closer look...

Cole Beasley + Ryan Switzer on the field = Nasty!

Fans of Noah Brown: This one is for you!

Atta Boy, Alfred Morris! Luke McCown sighting:

Another nice toss for McCown:

Your daily General Lee sighting...All in a day's work for the Captain:

Just somewhat of a funny reminder of how live TV catches all, no offense, Jane Slater, we all make mistakes. The initial tweet:

Then she goes live on NFL Network:

Not sure why they were showing Tyrone Crawford from yesterday instead of Smith who was on the sidelines for today’s practice. That’s just the NFL Network, confuse the audience, that’s the ticket!

After that “Freudian slip” it’s time for the Compete Period:

Nice job by La’el Collins with Tank:

Good push but not today, Maliek! Zack Martin with the victory!

Another nice try but Zack Martin could guard “The Wall” in Game of Thrones:

Not a great shot but Maliek had a rep against Byron Bell. He’s got some burst but Bell held his own too:

Jaylon’s the story but watch Anthony Hitchens catch Elliott:

Smith does put some contact on Zeke here:

Geoff Swaim gets in on the action on the far right side of the offense:

The two G.O.A.T.’s looking into practice as they are forced to take a vet day off:

It’s low but so is Cole Beasley...bad joke but still:

Again to Beasley, on the far right side, Cowboys’ first down:

In the red zone, we get a dump-off to Zeke for a nice gain:

Here’s Zeke on the draw to get it closer to the goal:

And TOUCHDOWN! Ezekiel Elliott, almost untouched:

Interesting play to end today’s practice...Andy Jones versus his former quarterback last season, Jameill Showers.

Today, this practice was a win for the offense at almost every level. We’ll continue to look for details on Butler but he seems to have just landed too hard for today and never returned, hopefully out of precaution. The MVP’s today have to be Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, nice day for them both!
