All NFL teams have a few more hours to reach their 53-man roster by 4:00 pm EST. The Dallas Cowboys are no exception. We'll be tracking their cuts as we receive them and posting them here.
The Cowboys got an early start yesterday when they cut RB Ronnie Hillman, TE M.J. McFarland and RB Brandon Brown-Dukes, but that still leaves a host of players to cut.
The Cowboys will move David Irving and Damontre Moore to the Reserve/Suspended list at some point before final roster cuts.

[UPDATE: 3:17 pm ET] As anticipated at the bottom of this post, the Cowboys have cut QB Kellen Moore. They'll likely look to re-sign him once they move TE Rico Gathers to IR.
#Cowboys will start Dak Prescott, a 4th rounder. They have Cooper Rush, undrafted, as his backup. Very nicely done by their personnel dept.

[UPDATE: 2:53 pm ET] Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the pick the Cowboys gave up for Benwikere is a conditional 6th-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
[UPDATE: 2:41 pm ET] WR Lance Lenoir has also been released.
[UPDATE: 1:27 pm ET] WR Andy Jones has also been released. the release was widely expected when the Cowboys announced Noah Brown would be taking that sixth and final WR spot.

[UPDATE: 2:15 pm ET] The first of the offensive linemen has been released in Emmett Cleary
The #Cowboys are releasing G Emmett Cleary, source said. They had received a few trade calls about him earlier in camp.

[UPDATE: 1:01 pm ET] And it's official now, the Cowboys have traded for Benwikere.
The #Cowboys have traded a late-round conditional pick for #Bengal CB Bene Benwikere, source said. Some depth there.

[UPDATE: 12:58 pm ET] The title of this post suggested trade rumors, and here's the first one. Looks like the Cowboys are in talks with the Bengals about cornerback Bene Benwikere.
[UPDATE: 12:32 pm ET] Robert Blanton's release is not unexpected. It likely means the Cowboys carry four safeties in Byron Jones, Jeff Heath, Kavon Frazier, and rookie Xavier Woods.
Source: the Cowboys are releasing veteran safety Robert Blanton.

[UPDATE: 12:12 pm ET]
The Cowboys have released defensive lineman Lewis Neal.
— Bobby Belt (@BobbyBeltTX) September 2, 2017
Lewis Neal is likely a player the Cowboys will try to sign to their practice squad. Teams can begin signing players to the practice squads at 1:00 pm ET tomorrow.
[UPDATE: 11:54 am ET] T.J. Ward is trending on Twitter in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The three-time Pro Bowler was important part of the Broncos defense, but his $4.5 million proved prohibitive for the Broncos - and for all other NFL teams. Early reports of teams looking for a trade appear to have been premature.
PFT reported in the aftermath of the “teams are calling the Broncos” report that, in reality, the Broncos were calling other teams in an effort to unload the veteran safety and his $4.5 million salary. Some thought I was crazy for suggesting that this may be a precursor to the Broncos cutting Ward.
Ward instantly becomes a free agent, and the Broncos will get nothing for him, other than $4.5 million in cash and cap savings.
Twitter may want Ward in Dallas, but the Cowboys' history with free agents suggests this is an unlikely proposition at best.
[UPDATE: 11:45 am ET] All animals are created equal. But some are more equal than others.
Reminder: players placed on IR today are not eligible to be short-term IR candidates. All are done for the season.

[UPDATE: 11:23 am ET] Former Cowboys who are known cuts so far:
- Carolina Panthers: DE Efe Obada, DE Zach Moore
- Houston Texans: WR Devin Street, QB Brandon Weeden, OL Laurence Gibson
- Kansas City Chiefs: TE Gavin Escobar
- Miami Dolphins: DL Lawrence Okoye, LB Deon Lacey
- Baltimore Ravens: OG Jarrod Pughsley
- Washington Redskins: DB Jeremiah McKinnon
- New York Jets: RB Jahad Thomas
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Dashaun Phillips
[UPDATE: 11:02 am ET] Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Green Bay Packers are looking for help at offensive guard. The Cowboys have a surplus of guards, could they swing a trade with the Packers?
[UPDATE: 10:56 am ET] Quick reminder that the Cowboys rank #28 in the waiver wire order. That means if the Cowboys are going to claim anyone off waivers, almost every other team will have to have passed on that player.
The Cowboys may put in some waiver claims, but their chances of getting a player are much better if they go after the vested veterans who became free agents with their release.
More details in a post on Blogging The Boys scheduled for noon ET today.
[UPDATE: 10:32 am ET]
The Cowboys have released Lenny Jones.

[UPDATE: 10:25 am ET] Bob Sturm and Todd Archer are both speculating that Kellen Moore gets cut initially to get Rico Gathers onto the 53-man roster. Once Gathers is placed on IR, they then re-sign Moore to the roster spot vacated by Gathers.
Sounds plausible.
