11 of the 12 NFL playoff teams have at least one former Cowboy on their official roster

While the Cowboys didn't make the playoffs this season, at least 36 former Cowboys are playoff-bound this year.

While watching the NFL action yesterday, I couldn't help but marvel about how many former Cowboys I noticed playing for other teams.

On a whim, I looked up the rosters of the 12 teams playoff teams and scanned their rosters for familiar names. What I found were 36 players that had been with the Cowboys at one time in the past and are headed for the playoffs this year.

Here's an overview of which former Cowboys are playoff-bound while their former teammates in Dallas get to spend the next few weekends on the couch.

AFC NFC
Team Player(s) Team Player(s)
Patriots WR Danny Amendola, TE Martellus Bennett* Eagles - -
Steelers S J.J. Wilcox, CB Dashaun Phillips* Vikings CB Terence Newman, S Andrew Sendejo, OC Joe Berger, K Kai Forbath
Jaguars S Barry Church, OT Jermey Parnell, CB Tyler Patmon, LB Deon King*, CB Sammy Seamster Rams RB Lance Dunbar
Chiefs CB Terrance Mitchell, OL Bryan Witzmann Saints CB Sterling Moore, TE John Phillips, LS Zach Wood, OG Nate Theaker*
Titans QB Matt Cassel, RB DeMarco Murray, LB Erik Walden, QB Brandon Weeden, QB Alex Tanney* Carolina LB Andrew Gachkar, DE Zach Moore, CB Teddy Williams*, DE Efe Obada*
Bills DE Ryan Davis, LB Deon Lacey, DT Cedric Thornton, WR Andre Holmes* Falcons CB Leon McFadden, DE Jack Crawford*, DT Joe Ivie*
* IR or practice squad

Note that this is just a result of a cursory glance at the team rosters, there may be more former Cowboys on the rosters than are listed in the table above. Obviously not all of these players are on the 53-man roster, though a lot of them are regular starters for their team.

Perhaps some of these former Cowboys will influence how much you support the individual playoff teams this year. The good news: there is no reason whatsoever to support the Eagles.
