It was eight years ago when the Dallas Cowboys picked an Oklahoma State Cowboys wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft. His name was Dez Bryant.
Coincidentally, eight years earlier the Cowboys drafted another wide receiver named Bryant, ye of first name Antonio (Pittsburgh). There’s obviously a mystic force at play here.
Going off of this force that is obviously undeniable, the Cowboys would do well to not repeat Bryant wide receivers, but Oklahoma State receivers, in this year’s draft. It turns out there’s a perfect candidate who’s on record for wanting to play for Dallas.
Oklahoma State WR James Washington said it would be a dream come true to play for the Cowboys, his favorite team growing up. Said he'd be a great complement to Dez Bryant. Said he often studied his tape while at Oklahoma State. He said Dez needs help.

How neat is it that James modeled his game after Dez while at OSU? This is a Hallmark movie waiting to happen. The double pokes! That’s what they’ll be, right?!

In all seriousness, a player with Washington’s skill set would do very well opposite of Dez Bryant with Dak Prescott at the helm. He’s got an ability not just to separate, but he’s regarded for having the strongest hands in this year’s draft class.

Nasty route by #OKST WR James Washington on #Southern CB Danny Johnson. Toasted him. pic.twitter.com/mmzrAtkA4H

Let’s talk about ability to separate, though. This has been an Achilles heel in the Cowboys offense as they don’t have anyone capable of hitting a home run consistently.
People are down on Dez Bryant, but he’s still capable of being this team’s X receiver. Those 50-50 balls aren’t necessarily an issue, it’s finding somebody that’s able to take the top off of a defense. Hello again, James Washington. There is track speed, then there is football speed.

There are currently a wide-ranging set of predictions for where Washington could ultimately go. If Dallas is indeed looking for some help for Dak, it could perhaps serve them well to keep their eyes on James as the draft moves on.
