Rico Gathers is getting ready for his third season in the NFL. He spent the entirety of his first one on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, and he followed that up with a sophomore season where he landed on injured reserve after the preseason, never leaving it.
It was a concussion that put Rico on IR, one that’s been the subject of many discussions over the course of the Cowboys season. Whatever discussions were had about Rico’s concussion status, he let it be known on Thursday that he’s done having them.
Rico Gathers doesn't want to be asked about his concussion, noting that it's last year. He's all about 2018. (h/t @kinggatz2 IG) pic.twitter.com/ukX9FOqvvj

It’s understandable that Gathers would want to put talks of his concussion behind him, he does seem determined, in fact, he said he’s back with a vengeance.
This post came from Rico’s personal Instagram account, you can follow him here, and he also said within this caption that he’s only going to be using it for promotion for his label.
Let’s be clear. Rico isn’t obligated to do anything with his social media accounts. He can post whatever he likes, however he likes, as often as he likes. It is worth noting that it’s interesting for him to come out with a statement that he wasn’t going to talk football, though.
Again, Rico has been through a weird year, undoubtedly a frustrating one. It makes sense that, since 2018 has officially arrived, he wants to focus and be ready for whatever he needs to do so that he can start contributing to the team that drafted him almost two years ago.
Enjoy this last sort of football-related post from Rico, everybody. It appears as it it’s the last one for a while.
