As the Cowboys were celebrating their huge win over the Atlanta Falcons, tragic news started circulating the locker room. Rookie wide receiver Michael Gallup found out that his brother had died, a victim of suicide. Jason Garrett confirmed that news.

“We just found out after the ballgame that his brother had committed suicide and just wanted to leave it at that,” Garrett said. “Obviously a very personal matter. We’re all behind Michael and supporting him and his family, and this is a very challenging time for him. We’ll take it moment by moment, day by day and give him all of our love and all of our support.”

ESPN has reported that Gallup will take a leave of absence from the team, and Jason Garrett has indicated they are unsure about his status for the upcoming Thanksgiving Day game against Washington.

The game against the Falcons was a homecoming for Gallup who grew up in Monroe, Ga which is roughly 45 miles east of Atlanta. Gallup remained in Georgia while the rest of the team returned to Dallas.

Our thoughts are with Michael Gallup and his family at this time.
