You’ll remember that in 2016 when the Cowboys visited Philly in Week 17 that they’d already clinched the NFC’s top seed. A season later when they met in the same week it was the Eagles who had locked up everything. For the first time in three years both the Cowboys and Eagles will be playing for something legitimate and they’ll be doing so under the bright lights of NBC’s Sunday Night Football (the 10th straight year this matchup meets in that slot).
Dallas certainly has more than enough to play for as they are 3-5 with more problems than anyone can count. Dak Prescott has played poorly, Ezekiel Elliott hasn’t exactly gotten going recently, but at least Amari Cooper looked good and caught a touchdown in his first game with a star on his helmet.
On the other side of things the Eagles are coming off of their bye and anxious to debut their own new wide receiver, Golden Tate. It was back in Week 4 that Tate almost singlehandedly burned the Cowboys (then as a member of the Detroit Lions) when he caught all eight of his targets from Matthew Stafford for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Carson Wentz will surely be looking Tate’s way, but he has plenty of other weapons in Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery. This is only the third time that he and Dak Prescott will duel one another so it’s sure to be something special. The last time they squared off was actually the worst loss in AT&T Stadium’s history, so hopefully this one goes better than that.
