Fleming has spent his entire four-year career with the Patriots, filling in at multiple spots on the offensive line. He most recently played in 15 games last season, starting six at right tackle. It’s uncertain what Fleming’s role will be with the Cowboys but there has been speculation that he could be a starting tackle, moving La’el Collins back to guard. However, the odds are good that he will be a well-paid insurance policy and play swing tackle for the Cowboys.
When Tyron Smith was out last season, the Cowboys struggled to do anything on offense and went on a losing streak. Cameron Fleming, at the very least, brings quality starting experience to the offensive line, should he be be needed in a pinch. Overall, Fleming has played in 47 games, starting 20 of them and you can find more about his career from our free agency focus piece back in January.
At 25, Fleming is the perfect type of free agent acquisition to bring on the roster as he’s still in the prime of his career. Now that the Cowboys have signed two wide receivers, a linebacker, and an offensive tackle, they have quietly addressed some of their biggest holes on the roster.
