Reddit ranked NFL QBs and Dak Prescott wasn’t in the top half

Rankings are never wrong, right?

A lot can change in a year.

365 days ago the hottest commodity in the NFL as far as young quarterbacks went was indisputably Dak Prescott. He was, and still very well might be, the future.

A product of the 2016 class of signal-callers, Dak will forever be measured against Los Angeles’ Jared Goff and Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz, despite going over 130 picks after both of them. It’s the way sports work. You’re compared, measured, and ranked repeatedly.

Rankings... man those are fun. There’s nothing like subjectively ordering a list of anything to get people riled up. It can be anything. If I ranked the best movie snacks in the world (Buncha Crunch is the best obviously), it would be debated.

Recently the NFL subreddit has been putting together a ranking of NFL quarterbacks. It’s an open poll where anyone can go vote and influence the results. They’re moving in rounds, and results keep piling in. We now know where the NFL subreddit community views Dak Prescott.

Via the NFL Subreddit

The NFL Subreddit community views Dak Prescott as the 21st-best quarterback in the game.

Quarterbacks ranked ahead of Prescott include Andy Dalton, Eli Manning, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Jimmy Garoppolo, Derek Carr, Jared Goff, Alex Smith, and then the normal elite guys.

It’s fair to say that of these listed names, all are debatable. Even if you’ve soured on Prescott, in no universe are Andy Dalton or Eli Manning better.

Winston and Mariota are definitely worth arguing over, and Jimmy G has the most hype surrounding him of any quarterback entering 2018. I’d argue that Derek Carr is actually one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the game, but it’s fair to say Goff trumps Dak for now.

Alex Smith is certainly an interesting argument because he’s played at MVP levels before, but to be fair so has Dak. Smith’s game has always been criticized for being limited in terms of an unwillingness to pass downfield, but he’s definitely capable of carrying a team.

What say you, BTB? Is Dak properly ranked?
