Four Cowboys show up on NFL Network’s top 100 players of 2018 list... so far

NFL Network continued their top 100 player countdown last night. Which two Cowboys players showed up on the list?

Every year NFL Network does a top 100 player countdown that the players around the NFL vote on. So far this year we have seen just two Cowboys show up on the countdown, but that was previous to the new names released last on Monday.

Zack Martin was the first Cowboy to show up on the list at 71st overall. Ezekiel Elliott was the next man up as the 54th best player in the NFL voted on by his peers in the league. Last night the countdown continued starting at 40th and ending at 31st overall. The Cowboys had two more of their players show up on the top 100 last night, one from the offensive side of the ball, and one from the defensive side of the ball.

Tyron Smith - LT - 39/100

Tyron Smith came off the board quickly last night, being voted as the 39th best player in the NFL. The NFL Network production team interviewed some of the best defensive players in the league including: Bruce Irvin, Cameron Jordan, and Chandler Jones, and they had some very positive things to say about Tyron Smith.

As Cowboys fans, we all know how valuable Tyron Smith is to the team, and it seems as if some of the best pass rushers in the league also see him as one of, if not the best left tackle in the game. The problem is this ranking seems a little low for such a supreme talent. Yes, the injuries played into it as last year was definitely a down your for Tyron, but 39th?

DeMarcus Lawrence - DE - 34/100

Shortly after Tyron Smith was introduced, Cowboys’ pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence had his name called. This is Lawrence’s first time making the NFL top 100, and he did so as the 34th best player on the list.

DeMarcus Lawrence had multiple guys around the league give him high praise including: Chandler Jones, Ryan Kerrigan, Andrew Whitworth, Lane Johnson, and Kirk Cousins. For a guy who has yet to show up on the NFL top 100, Lawrence is just now starting to get the recognition he deserves. He quickly took to twitter to let everyone know that he still wasn’t satisfied with his ranking.

After a monster year in 2017, the Cowboys desperately need DeMarcus Lawrence to play at that same level in 2018. It seems as if the players around the NFL see DeMarcus Lawrence as one of the best pass rushers in the league.

With just 30 more spots to fill in the NFL top 100, what Cowboy players do you think we will see make the list?
