Hopefully David Irving is okay.

There have been a lot of questions regarding David Irving throughout voluntary OTAs.

Where is he? Why is he absent? Does he care? People are starting to get impatient. The Star Telegram recently wrote about this idea, pondering this very issue.

Thus Irving remains an enigma of sorts for the Cowboys.

No one is panicking, because OTAs are “voluntary” workouts. But it’s also duly noted that everyone else on the roster is there, whether they are participating or not.

His teammates remain supportive. They know he has a different, albeit mercurial, personality. But they are understandably perplexed.

“David is David,” defensive end Tyrone Crawford said. ”Everybody knows David. That’s the dinosaur right there. We are trying to figure him out, too, and get him right. He is too big of a talent not to be on the field.”

While the coaches and front office staff are continually frustrated with Irving, the players are trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, because they know when he is around and he is right, he is one of the best at what he does.

Frustration is understandable. All of those involved with the Cowboys have a goal that they want to achieve, and they want to feel that their own passion is matched by everyone else. What if David Irving really had something else going on, though?

The talented defensive lineman took to his own Instagram account on Wednesday to address the continued discussion of his absence. He noted that he wanted the media to “tell the truth” about his absence, citing that he had to help himself first and foremost.

Irving has had a rough offseason in the public eye. There was a hacking of his Twitter account that made the rounds, and plenty of accusations were made against him (they were later recanted).

Whatever is going on with David Irving, it seems that it’s more than an unwillingness to practice at this point. For now we wish Irving all the best on his road to helping himself.
