New, comments

Here’s some sights and sounds from the final OTA’s practice before mandatory minicamp next week.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys-OTA Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys had their final practice of the OTA period before they get set to have their mandatory minicamp from June 12-14th.

Before we get started we always like to point out those that weren’t practicing, keep in mind that teams are generally overly cautious at this time of year:

Today’s practice was visited, an evaluated by, the franchise leader in sacks, DeMarcus Ware. He spoke with the media for a little while on his continued offseason of coaching pass rushers:

Ware talked about a number of things and even admitted to have spoken with Dez Bryant, who’s still a free agent:

Ware also issued sort of a challenge to the Cowboys new best pass rusher, DeMarcus Lawrence, to prove himself again:

David Helman also has seen some positive things from a certain second-year pass rusher in Taco Charlton, who may be able to take a step in 2018:

While a lot of guys sat out for various reasons, here’s how the depth chart shook out today for the final practice:

The media finally got a better look at Tavon Austin, who worked with the ones quite a bit:

Another receiver who was out there working pretty hard was Noah Brown, who was caught in a few actions shots today:

Everyone that knows Jason Garrett knows that he’s big on situational football. He often uses time to practice on scenarios that can certainly happen when playing quarterbacks in today’s league:

One guy that the Cowboys could certainly find use for in a jump-ball situation is the enigmatic Rico Gathers, who’s put on pounds to help with blocking:

With Leighton Vander Esch and Sean Lee not practicing for precaution, it left a nice opportunity for Justin March-Lillard. He certainly didn’t waste his reps today!

You get the feeling that when it comes to wide open opportunities at receiver, the Cowboys will find a different winner each day in practice. In the last OTA practice, it was the Cowboys most notable free agency acquisition, Allen Hurns:

That’s a wrap for the OTA’s but we get one more taste with mandatory minicamp next week before the dog days of the offseason truly set in.

If you got a spare half hour, Bryan Broaddus and Ambar Garcia answered questions following today’s practice via Periscope:
