Are the predictions good ones for the Cowboys backfield?

A sign that the NFL season is close (ish) is when various odds and lines start to trickle out.

Oddsmakers don’t exactly believe in the Cowboys chances to make the playoffs, but the people wagering on Dallas to take down the Carolina Panthers are pretty confident. We’ve now got some prop bets to discuss, specifically in regards to Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.

Dak Prescott

Passing Yards: Over/Under 3,400

Touchdown Passes: Over/Under 22.5

Interceptions: Over/Under 13.5

Ezekiel Elliott

Rushing Yards: Over/Under 1,375

Total Touchdowns: Over/Under 10.5

Dak’s lines are more reflective of last season (3,324 yards, 22 touchdowns, 13 interceptions). Basically the question boils down to whether or not you believe the quarterback will be marginally better in each statistical category. His rookie season (3,667, 23 touchdowns, 4 interceptions) passes with flying colors.

Zeke only ran for 983 yards last season, but he did so in 10 games. If you extrapolated his yards per game across a full 16-game season he’d have crushed this (1,573).

Of the five prop bets the most tantalizing is the 10.5 over/under for total touchdowns that Zeke would be responsible for. He had 15 on the ground in 2016 (only one receiving, albeit a glorious one) and nine collectively last season. That’s a home run of a line.

How confident are you in the Cowboys backfield? Where would you go over, and where would you go under?
