We finally made it to Cowboys training camp! Every day, this great forum will be flooded with training camp talk and we’re here to give you the social media highlights from each practice.
It all starts here... #CowboysCamp pic.twitter.com/T5hVpbKXLI

Before we begin, keep in mind the following from Todd Archer about the Cowboys plans for this first week:
It's the first day of training camp but the Cowboys will not be in pads until Saturday. The offense and defense won't even work against each other the next two days as Jason Garrett looks to break the players in slowly to hopefully avoid soft-tissue... https://t.co/OJBqfHpwAp
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) July 26, 2018
The crowd isn’t that hot right now (be it Thursday and all) but wait until the weekend, Mr. George:

Side bar: Happy Birthday, Xavier Woods! Maybe a starting role will be his birthday present:

— Dallas Cowboys (@dallascowboys) July 26, 2018
David Helman, pointing out something really awesome:
One benefit of having such a young roster is Jason Garrett says there'll be fewer players whose workloads need to be managed. Garrett listed Sean Lee, Tyron Smith & DeMarcus Lawrence as guys they'll be sure to monitor. But it's not as big an issue as in years past. #cowboyswire
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) July 26, 2018
Speaking of Helman, he’s already calling his shot:
Please believe me when I say I am going to drive the “Jaylon Smith is getting sacks, with an s” hype train until the wheels come off.
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) July 26, 2018
pic.twitter.com/rxwNh9FGXz
Here’s an action shot of Jaylon Smith going up for the ball, there’s no hitch in his giddy up anymore:

Here’s another of Smith with his tag-team partner, the General, Sean Lee:

Knowing darn well we can’t get enough, here’s a few more action shots of Jaylon:

A couple of tidbits about certain players to keep in mind as well:
Garrett says WR Terrance Williams (foot) will be limited at the outset of practice. Did take part in walkthrough today. #cowboyswire
— Rob Phillips (@robphillips3) July 26, 2018
Jason Garrett said Kavon Frazier has been involved in everything other than practice. He’s still getting tests. Hoping he’ll be cleared to practice soon
— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) July 26, 2018
On the non-football injury list, Randy Gregory and Kavon Frazier worked off to the side during the walkthrough. Gregory will work slowly into football drills. Frazier is going through medical tests after issues came up during his physical.
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) July 26, 2018
Your daily Rico Gathers mention, the head coach kept it rather short:
"Really just need Rico to continue to progress." -Jason Garrett
— RJ Ochoa (@rjochoa) July 26, 2018
You can watch the entirety of coach Jason Garrett’s press conference here:

As of this morning’s walkthrough, the Cowboys first-teams were was as follows:
First-team defense: Chidobe, Byron, Xavier, Heath, Lee, Jaylon, Damien, Lawrence, Datone, Jihad, Crawford
— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) July 26, 2018
First-team offense: Dak, Zeke, Tyron, Connor, Frederick, Martin, La’el, Deonte, Hurns, Swaim, Jarwin
— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) July 26, 2018
A few other notables from the walkthrough including Tavon Austin lining up out wide, folks:

Can you say “FAKED”?

— mike fisher ✭ (@fishsports) July 26, 2018
Speaking of the wide receivers, there will be a lot of route concept work for all involved:
Cowboys WR Cole Beasley will get the opportunity to expand is route tree this season. You'll see him lining up outside more. You've already seen Beasley and Tavon Austin lining up outside with Allen Hurns inside. The versatility is there with this new-look WR group.
— Brandon George (@DMN_George) July 26, 2018

Someone will need to fill the vocal leadership aspect that was left void when Dez Bryant left:
Cowboys WR Cole Beasley on how different it is without Dez Bryant in training camp: "Just vocally for the most part and his energy. He's a big personality not to have out here. So it's definitely like a void was kind of missing in OTAs."
— Brandon George (@DMN_George) July 26, 2018

— Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) July 26, 2018
Back to the linebackers, first-rounder Leighton Vander Esch was looking good after dealing with an ankle injury during OTA’s and minicamp. Coach Garrett compared him to Brian Urlacher today, no big deal:

And here’s Sean Lee promptly showing the rookie how it’s done:

Excitement is high after last week’s breaking news, check out Randy Gregory making his way out on the field:

— Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) July 26, 2018
Cowboys DC Rod Marinelli on Randy Gregory: He has my trust right now. I’m coaching all of them to be special pic.twitter.com/BuYWDaq7op
— Jori Epstein (@JoriEpstein) July 26, 2018
When asked if Randy Gregory has to re-earn trust Jason Garrett acknowledges that that's a great question. Discusses how the level of trust they have for each other is ultimately what separates the championship teams from the rest. Says Randy does, but they all do.
— RJ Ochoa (@rjochoa) July 26, 2018
The best thing about the Randy Gregory news is that he certainly doesn’t look like a guy that will take a long time to get into shape:
All I’m saying is that Randy doesn’t *look* like a guy who’s been gone for 18 months. pic.twitter.com/LvKYMwOaB5

It’s been awhile since Randy Gregory (bucket hat) has been in No. 94 for the Cowboys pic.twitter.com/tvNJBGQXYB
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) July 26, 2018
Gregory wasn’t the only pass rusher to get excited about, DeMarcus Lawrence was out there revved up and ready to go after a career season in 2017:

Don’t forget about Taco Charlton, he’s flying under the radar right now?

Another grand entrance for the Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott makes his way out onto the Oxnard fields:

As important as the QB is, these guys are the backbone of this team and have been for a while:

And with this next guy, the trifecta is complete, Ezekiel Elliott, ladies and gents! Every fan loves them some 21:

Could Elliott possible be that vocal leader that Cole Beasley was talking about?

There will certainly be a lot of this happening in 2018:

We have our first sighting of rookie wide receiver Michael Gallup, here he is with a grab from Cooper Rush:

— The Willest (@willespndfw) July 26, 2018
Could Cole Beasley turn back time to 2016 and be the Cowboys leading receiver? He and Dak sure hope so:

— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) July 27, 2018
Another point of interest is at tight end and the Cowboys are very high on Mr. Blake Jarwin as a pass-catching threat for the offense:

— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) July 26, 2018
Speaking of tight ends, there’s no Mike Pope drills but the guys were out catching tennis balls today:

There were two players that got dinged up and Chaz Green got the worst of it. Of course, we’ll continue to monitor that situation:

Offseason standout Lance Lenoir appears to be alright:
He appears OK. https://t.co/OVV3Hrywhz
— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) July 27, 2018
We’ll end practice with defensive side of the ball, Kris Richard had his guys working to be more physical at the point of attack. A physical secondary is imperative for a Richard-led defense.

Yesterday on “Talkin’ Cowboys”, Nick Eatman believed that the Cowboys would walk away from 2018 with the top cornerback tandem in the NFL. Fellow colleague, David Helman added a little fuel to it. It’s going to be an exciting unit to watch:
Practice No. 1 is over. It was about as eventful as you’d expect a non-padded practice to be. I think the Cowboys’ DBs are gonna be fun. #cowboyswire
— David Helman (@HelmanDC) July 27, 2018
lmao. this is better than anything that happened during practice. RBs coach Gary Brown made DBs coach Kris Richard go through his new gauntlet. #cowboyswire pic.twitter.com/J8Xaumo3fs
