Every day of training camp practice we’re here to give you the social media highlights. Typically, the Cowboys hold court prior to practice with the media, so we like to give you a few tidbits of that followed by all the action shots of football that we can digest in one day.
Today’s court was held by none other than the Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. He was asked about things that went awry in 2017, his response was quite good:
Dak gave an insightful response about the mistakes he made in his second year as a starter. Said “in a way” he tried to do too much at times: #cowboyswire pic.twitter.com/xzksxU3QDw

.@dak thinks the @dallascowboys are gonna surprise a lot of people this coming season, and he explained why during our stop in Oxnard #CowboysCamp pic.twitter.com/Bumg78gkDc

Off of the podium and back on the practice field we go as the second practice takes flight from the River Ridge Fields in Oxnard:

He may just be a rookie but there are a lot of eyes on new receiver Michael Gallup. There are also a lot of folks that are expecting big things in year one, is Gallup poised for the challenge?

Hard to match speed of Tavon Austin or Deonte Thompson, but Michael Gallup looks about as fluid and explosive in his routes as any WR out here. Beasley has no wasted motion at all with his movements. #cowboyswire

Sound the Rico Gathers alarm, here he is doing what he does best, catching the ball:

Catching passes is a good thing with a new-look offense, here is a shot of newcomer Tavon Austin hooking up with Dak:

Another quick update on Terrance Williams, who seems to be recovering well from his broken foot:
No pads or compete stuff again today. But Terrance Williams is running well. #cowboyswire

Can we just call this play “nifty and shifty”? Dak to Ezekiel Elliott, who shoots it over to Cole Beasley.

Nothing is possible without the hard work from guys like La’el Collins paving the way up front:

Speaking of the O-line, Tyron Smith was getting some precautionary rest which gave Cam Fleming the opportunity for more reps:
Cam Fleming working at first team left tackle with Tyron Smith sitting. Garrett talked about monitoring players in camp like Smith, who has battled injuries lately. If it’s a day off would allow him to practice two days in a row in full pads over the weekend.

Sean Lee and Tyron Smith have the day off. Cameron Fleming is the first-team left tackle

In other news of who’s not practicing, Noah Brown was nursing a tight hamstring today:

It can’t all be about the pass catchers with a running back room as strong as this one. Here’s some action clips with the workhorse leading the way:

After that short break for some running back love, we go back to the receivers. More importantly, have a peek at some of Sanjay Lal’s teachings including how to line up:
I’ve never seen this. Looks like Sanjay Lal is working his WRs on proper form/anticipation when coming off the line.

So interested to see how the coaches divvy up these WR reps when the padded practices start. During an all-offense walkthrough, the first-team wide outs were Lance Lenoir, Tavon Austin & Cole Beasley #cowboyswire

We’ve heard the importance of route running be stressed over and over again. It’s got to be this team’s calling card for the passing game to improve.
